Dance Masters South Eastern Chapter #33 is a non-profit, membership based organization of certified dance educators. Our chapter covers the Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee region. We are a branch of our parent organization, Dance Masters of America, an International Dance Teacher Organization which has served the dance community for more than a century. Dance Masters is unique in the dance community in that the entire organization is managed by its own members. These dance educators work collectively and collaboratively to ensure the elevation of the art of dance and the continual improvement of its teaching. At Chapter #33 our focus is to develop the dance teachers and students, equipping both with training and education to continually improve themselves. Through dance competition, workshop classes, round table discussions, and dance scholarships, our goal each year is to provide them with opportunities to learn, love, and grow. We are proud to offer over $25,000 in cash scholarships each year.
Chapter #33 offers a winter convention each year in February. We bring in exceptional teachers from across the country to teach workshop classes for the students and teachers. We hold a Performing Arts competition, a Titled Solo competition, Scholarship Auditions, and more. The event is held in Montgomery, AL at the Montgomery Performing Arts Theater. Additional information is available on our Convention page. Non-members are welcome to attend Chapter #33 conventions. Non-member teachers may register themselves and their students for our convention and attend workshop classes. However, they may not compete in any competition and are not eligible for scholarship money.
In addition to our convention, we hold a member Grand Body meeting each year in August. New member testing is offered at the August meeting as well as by special request throughout the year. Dance teachers interested in becoming a member of our organization may contact our 2nd Vice-President. Additional officer and contact information is available here.
