OUR MISSION
Dance Masters of Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee (Chapter #33) is an association of certified dance educators with the goals to advance the art of dancing and improve the practice of its teaching. Our parent organization, Dance Masters of America, is an International Educational Dance Teacher Organization which has served the dance community for more than a century.
Chapter #33 offers workshops, master classes and training sessions for both teachers and students in addition to scholarship auditions, competition and so much more.
Chapter #33 also sponsors dance competitions throughout the year. Qualifying members will have the opportunity to compete in national competitions sponsored by Dance Masters of America and others. Events include Solo Titled Competitions, Dance Scholarship Auditions and Performing Arts Competitions for member's students.
WHAT WE DO
DMA #33 holds a winter convention, THE FORCE, in February each year. We bring in a premier faculty to teach workshops for the students. We also hold our Performing Arts, Solo Titled, and Scholarship competitions at this convention. It is held in Montgomery, AL at the Montgomery Performing Arts Theater.
We also hold a fall workshop each year. We bring in 2 premier faculty members to teach the students in a smaller environment. We hold our Non-Titled Solo competition at this event. It is held in Birmingham, AL at the Birmingham Dance Theatre.
Member testing is available at both events during the year as well as various other times. Dance teachers interested in becoming a member of our organization may contact our 2nd Vice-President. Contact information is available on our website.
Non-members are welcome to attend DMA #33 events as well. Non-member teachers may register their students for any DMA #33 convention and attend classes. However, they may not compete in the competitions and are not eligible for scholarship money.
