How do I become a member of Chapter #33?
There are 4 requirements to become a member:
What are the benefits of being a DMA #33 member?
- You must be a Dance Teacher
- You must be 18 years or older
- You must have conducted dance schools or have taught in established dance schools for 3 or more years
- You must complete testing in a minimum of ONE of the following areas: Ballet, Tap, Jazz or Acrobatics. If you teach multiple subjects, testing is required in a minimum of TWO areas. Testing consists of written, verbal and physical tests, and in some subjects, an essay is required.

DMA #33 Members are Dance Teachers in the Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee area. Dance students must enter DMA #33 conventions through their dance teacher.
As a Member Teacher, all your personal DMA #33 convention registration fees are FREE with paid dues each year. Your students also receive a reduced registration rate. You will now be eligible to enter all areas of competition and will be eligible to win scholarship money as well. DMA #33 awards over $25,000 in cash scholarships annually.
You will have access to seminars that teach you to grow your business and further your dance education. You will become part of a network of dance teachers who strive for excellence in the art of dance, share ideas about operating a successful dance business, have a voice in DMA #33 operations, and so much more!
With your membership in this highly accredited national organization, you will have the rights to use the national DMA emblem in advertising, will receive a DMA decal each year to display in your studio, and will be eligible for special reduced ASCAP and BMI rates when paid through the DMA national office.
Who can attend a DMA #33 convention?
Dance teachers in the Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee area are welcome to attend our convention and bring their students. If you are not a current member of DMA #33, you may register as a "Non-Member Teacher" and register your students as "Non-Member Students". You may watch all competitions during the event and take classes. You will not be able to compete in the competitions nor will you be eligible for the cash scholarships. There will be an opportunity at the convention for you to test and become a member. If you become a member prior to the registration deadline of any convention, you may participate in all competitions and will be eligible for cash scholarship awards. Students must be registered through a teacher to attend.
I am a college student taking dance classes at my college. Can I take class at your convention?
Sure! Anyone 18 years of age or older may register as a "Non-Member Teacher".
Who are these "sought after" teachers that will be teaching at your convention and what type of classes are offered?
Every year we bring in very talented stars in the dance industry. At past conventions we have had such names as Mia Michaels, Shelia Barker, Stephen "Twitch" Boss, Adrienne Canterna, Shea Sullivan, Nick Drago, Gil Stroming, Nick Lazzarini, Dave Carter, Blake McGrath, and Lauren Gottlieb to name a few! We offer 6 classes at our February convention. There will always be at least 1 ballet and 1 tap class. This year, we are also offering hip-hop, contemporary, and jazz.
In the fall, we offer 2 - 3 classes and they are usually hip-hop, contemporary, jazz, and / or lyrical.
